This Louis XVI-inspired bench is inspired by a an elaborate parlor set manufactured in Baltimore in 1883 for Elenora O-Donnell Hinkley. Donated to the Smithsonian, the original parlor furnishings are from the historic Hinkley-Werlich house in Washington, DC. Detailed craftsmanship is evident in the design and execution of elaborate carvings on exotic hardwoods and carefully tailored 100% cotton-covered seat.
